BARTOLOME ISLAND OF GALAPAGOS ISLANDS

BARTOLOME IS A UNIQUE CORNER OF THE WORLD filled with breathtaking landscapes.  We hiked to the highest point on the summit trail.  The volcanic ash trail is covered with a small stepped easy to manage wooden stairway.  Pinnacle Rock, often visible, is the most photographed site in the Galapagos.

Along with my friend, Angela, we joined a group on the lovely boat Narel for the day trip from Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz island to Bartolome.  On the boat trip we were served breakfast and lunch.  Once anchored we went by dinghy to the shore.

We travelled back in time to the formation of lava tubes and spatter cones.

We were able to see pioneer plants that were establishing roots on relatively very new ground.  These plants included many species of cactus.

We had two opportunities to snorkel on the trip.

When you hang out in Cuenca anything is possible.  You can visit a particular local market where the Curados or Kallawayas from the nearby Andes come to town and clear up any medical or psychological problems that you might have.  The do this by administering herbs, rubbing an egg over you and many other techniques.  My friend Kim is featured in the "Cleansing" on the video tape below.  It can also be found on Youtube under Kim Gets the Cleanse

SEAHORSES, SHARKS AND RAYS  are photos chosen to represent the diversity and plentifulness of sea life in Galapagos waters.  All of these photos will be used in my documentary on GALAPAGOS ANIMAL LIFE

IT WAS OBSERVATIONS  below the surface of the Pacific that truly tuned me into nature and gave  me an awesome sense of being with LAUREL.  RIP

The developing DOCUMENTARY created in memory of Laurel and for the partial purpose of raising funds for BREAST CANCER CARE AND RESEARCH will contain the editing of thousands of my own video clips and photos as well as many pictures and videos that have been donated by friends met in Ecuador.
